    1) Not get injured
    2) Ask out the girl I like
    3) Spend less money on running gear
    4) Get a summer job
    5) Not miss training
    6) Not go into debt
    7) And probably study

1, 5, 6 and 7 I doubt will happen. 2 will be real hard. And I'll never stick to 3

That leaves 4. Does anyone know of any Dublin based garages looking for a valeter for the summer on that note?

People every year with their gym lark...
    Go for a run maybe?
Are ye training for some sort of event?no? you don't need to pay a lot of money to go to a gym then.

As usual, I don't have any.

Not to lie to myself by making a new years resolution

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Well, last year I gave up smoking. Now, in my books, that gives me eternal dispensation from ever having to make another new year's resolution.

    It's like a perpetual new year's resolution.

I haven't really thought about it yet, honestly. There will probably be more, but I guess I want to:

    Get a driver's permit
    Get a driver's licence

I know there will be more, but I'll think of more later...

Not to make one...it's easy to keep that new years resolution!!
That and making my dad teach me how to drive.

With my new monitor, I thought I'd go up to 1280x960

... it was only a matter of time before some muppet came along to make this perennial joke, I'm just getting it out of the way...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,391 ✭✭✭arbeitsscheuer

I'm not playing any part of your sick fantasies boneless...

    Unless I get a teddy.

Anyway, my resolutions are brief and to the point:
    1) Get a degree
    2) Join the Civil Service.

If I can stick to that, I'll have had a good 2006.

    1) Stop smoking for good this time
    2) Extend my house
    3) Make an attempt at buying another one
    4) Keep the fitness level as it is now or higher

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

    1) Get back in shape.
I used to be a toned size ten, now I am a flabby 12/14 and I just feel like crap, so 2006 is the year I am going to get my old body back!

    2) Increase my Social Circle.
Once upon a time, I was a social butterfly who could rival any 'IT GIRL' in terms of party invites I recevied.
Then I got all lurved up, and without my realising it, my social circle grew smaller and smaller as I swapped nights on the town for nights infront of the Telly with my BF, getting fat on take aways.
I am still lurved up, but my BF was away for a few days recently, and I was bored out of my tree, all my old friends were busy doing their own thang, the alarm bells start ringing, and 2006 is going to be the year that I rekindle old friendships.

    3) Hobbies and Interests.
It only dawned on me recently that I have none. Zero.
I used to be passionate about singing, drama and dance, now all I do is sit on my fat arse complaining about being fat, and bored.
2006 is going to be the year that I get back into drama, maybe as a hobbie (in a dream world as a possible money maker).
Complaining does nothing but make you bitter and miserable.
    Change is where its at.

All my new years resolutions are fairly do-able, and I reckon they could change my life for the better, so here's hoping I stick to them!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,563 ✭✭✭connundrum

    1) Visit family
    2) Increase social circle to extraordinary lengths
    3) Get driving test - 3 years I've been bleedin saying that!
    4) Become Irish champion of something... anything!
    5) Loose the 12 stone I will have gained at Christmas time.
    6) Go on at least 2 foreign holidays
    7) Enter the €45000 + wage bracket (heh heh heh.. yeah, me arse)
    8) Be a better man to my woman

I don't see a point in striving for stuff you can't achieve.. and I reckon I can achieve all these things (apart from maybe #4 and #7 - but I'll try my hardest!) :)
