My friends in the US tell me they pay $5 for a US quart (32 fl oz.) of motor oil.

Can someone then explain why a litre of motor oil at Halford's here costs 15-18 euro?

I know that prices are higher here in general, but they are usually not 4 times higher.

I paid €65 for 4 litres of Castrol Edge a few weeks ago in Halfords.

I have to use it for our VW Golf.

The prices in my original post were for Castrol Edge and its American equivalent.

They also pay about 50c per litre of petrol.

However it probably evens out seeing asd they all drive 6 litre cars.:)
