So there I'd be, playing CS, using µtorrent, (it doesn't really happen when just surfing) and then BAM, all my up and down bottoms out and I have two choices, turn my router off and on again and wait, or reboot.
Sometimes the little connection icon beside the clock freezes along with it, and I can't open the Connection Status window.

I'm with Esat BT 1Mb line (although when I got it it was IOL BB)
I have their Zyxel Prestige 600 series router and XP Pro.
I just reinstalled XP fresh and new and the problem persists.

Also, I have disabled a few services according to blackviper.com's guide (website gone now) and uninstalled th File and Printer Sharing and all that trollop from Network Connections (leaving only TCP/IP, obviously).

WTF? Is this a BopNiblets problem or should I go burn Esat down?

I don't have a network card, I have a router and a motherboard with USB, and they're stuck together with some sort of cable-ey, pluggy device thing.

I can only see one firmware (on this page) but there is a driver there too, hopefully it won't kill my connection any further.

If you can pick up a €10 network card at maplin and stick it in your PC. USB really does suck for net connections.

Ok, I haven't got a network card installed, I think one came with MSI mobo, but I was unaware that USB is bad for network connections.... WHY DON'T PEOPLE TELL ME THESE THINGS!
    :p

And I upgraded the USB driver too, I'll see what happens anyhow.
    Thanks dudes.

    *small bump*

Ok, LAN instead of USB router working now, once I enabled them in the BIOS, I say "them" because there were two LAN entries in the Integrated Peripherals menu in my BIOS
    1. Mac LAN
    2. Onboard LAN Controller

I enabled the first only but kept getting BSODed when installing the nVidia (nForce3 5.11 WHQL) Ethernet driver.

Then I enabled the 2nd one and the Ethernet driver installed ok, BUT now I have another item looking for drivers to install (I told it not to ask again, but I'm a perfectionist and it's in my Device Manager all yellow error-y and nasty looking):

So, what is it and how do I get it to go away? :)

I get weird problems like that aswel with my LAN connections on my MSI board. Infact If I disable the onboard nVidia LAN, My PC's automatically reboots  If I try to un-install the ethernet drivers, Once again it reboots. Its strange. Its just like, as soon as i click " Disable" IMMEDIETLY the PC just re-boots. Im sure that can't be good, Driver problem ?
