Right so, bought a turntable for 2 euro to play some old vinyls on, problem is it has no amp. At the moment Im playing it through my guitar amp but it just isnt cutting it for me, Ive only got a 15w marshall. I was thinking about hooking it up to my ashdown mag300. Anyone know if this will do any harm to my bass amp or any thoughts on if it will work or not.

    Cheers.

I'm not too sure if it'll damage it but it won't sound as good as it would if it was connected to your hifi or a powered speaker.

Well considering that the records are probably Stereo and the amp is mono. you are going to be dealing with a **** sandwiche. Lash it into your stereo

On the matter f the stereo problom, I have bith midi jacks connected to an adaptor the makes it a 3.5mm stereo jack. I dont have any input jacks or aux in jacks on my hifi. What do you reckon bout if I connect it to a set of computer speakers?

EDIT I may have a solution. If I can power my FM transmiter from the mains I can tune it into the radio. I think its problom solved.

Stereo isn't the real problem, any professional record will render to mono without any trouble. Guitar speakers don't reproduce high frequencies, so you're missing a whole range of sound from 5,000 hz - 20,000 hz unless you use something with a high frequency driver (tweeter).

I knew was hoping Eoin would be around sometime. I may have a better solution though, Im getting the old record player out of the attic after my exams finish on Tuesday, Im gonna see if the stylus on my new record player will fit on it as that is the only I thing I remember that doesnt work on the old one. If the works Ive got a set off bookshelf speakers that can be powered by the old one as the old one is an all in one system with a tape deck aswel.

Ill keep you informed on the progress.
