I'm currently in the uk for work and have a full sky pack; if i bring the card home will it work in my irish sky box? I only have the family pack there.

    Thanks,
    Shaun

It wont for Sky Sports/Movies, as those channels have that card married to the box. For other family pack channels, it will work, but as you say, its the same deal that they have back home.
If you have Sky in the UK for more that 12 months, there is really nothing stopping you bringing the whole digibox with you.

If it is only a week or too the phone is not an issue. The twelve months is only relating to phone connection.

The card will give C4 and Five in Irsh box even if cancelled.

I think i`ll just give it a try for the 2 weeks of christmas and see.
Nothing to loose i think!...could it mess either sub up?

As long as you have phone line disconnected while UK card in Slot. No.

Excessive card swapping will wear out the card reader and cards.

I disconnected the phone line, as the installers made a balls of it. It was terrible....no net, calls almost unusable too.

I suspect i`ll be getting a letter soon, but they shall get one in return!

    Thanks for the quick replies,

    Shaun

To be honest, I'd doubt if Sky will bother to send you a letter. They might just be happy to be getting paid for subscriptions. :)

    Hi
I Live in Switzerland and will be going back to ireland for Xmas. I have an irish Sky setup in Switzerland and was hoping to take my card home with me and use in my folks' Sky didgibox so i can get sport and movies while I'm home. Can anyone let me know what the procedure is?

    The basic 6 mix packs:

Any card works in any box.

Premium channels such as FilmFour, Disney, Sky Sport, Sky Movies etc:

    Only the mix channels work.

To change the card with premium content to a new box you need to ring Sky. The chnageover to "marry" the card to a new box takes only minutes but they will want to know:

    * Why (Box getting repaired is common reason).
    * Serial & Model of Old box
    * Serial & model of "new" Sky box
    * Viewing card number
    * Confirm cardholder account, name, address, phone number and even password if you ever were asked for one. No need to change any of these. The Satellite signal, card and box don't care where they are.

If you are only changing for a few weeks or "swapping" cards in a box leave the box phone line disconnected.

    Later you can change back.

Sky do not support / encourage changing box for card for "holiday homes" etc, so I wouldn't change it often or they will get fed up.

    No charge though.
