Computer giving problems after power knocked off...

    Hi guys and gals,

    I've been having a few problems with my laptop since earlier this evening. The problems started when I kicked the power lead (by accident) and the power to the laptop knocked off (laptop battery was out).

    When I tried to turn on the laptop again it got as far as the ACER splash screen but would not boot into Windows (XP Pro SP2). I also could not get to "F2" setup, and attempting to boot from a Knoppix boot cd also failed. I attempted to start the laptop a few times but only got to various stages of the Acer startup splash screen before the system just hung.

    After trying lots of starts I eventually got the machine to boot into Windows XP and everything seems ok now.

    Anyone know what might have happened, and what I should do now? The last think I need is recurring problems, and if I have done permanent damage I'd be open to suggestions about a fix.
