Im buying one for 899.00 in Digifoto in Waterford with a 18-55 lens.

Thats a bit more pricey than pixmania but I dont like buying online so I can live with decision.

www.spectraphoto.ie has one advertised for 749, infact 899 must be the most expensive in ireland
its also 777, in jessops on grafton street

im not a fan of online either, especially with big purchases like cameras... bit pixmania seems a safe bet, jessops is not too bad, whats the place near tower records called, i spoke to them a month or so and they seemed helpful, dont remember the price tho

Id prefer to have 200-300+ euros in my pocket so I could buy more lenses or a flash. you would get a european warranty and if something went wrong you would have to send it to canon, just like the irish shop would have to do.

By buying my kit online I saved over €600. Thats a nice 10-22mm lense and a lowepro camera rucksac and a 1GB Card.

stay away from conns cameras (that's the place near tower records)

my mum got a canon ixus 40 for her birthday and i decided i wanted to get her a case.

i went to one sales assistant

me:excuse me how much is this case? (pointing to a bog standard lowe pro case)
assistant: it's 19.99, but we have the offical case for the ixus40 for 29.99.
me: ok i'll get back to you.

i bring the lowepro one up to the register and get talking to other guy.

assistant2: you know we have the offical case for the ixus40?
    me: yes.
assistant2: where did you buy the camera?
me: online where it's cheaper! :p
assistant2: well okay, i can do you a deal on the offical case for 29.99 it is 39.99 on it's own.

    steer clear...

I've heard mixed reports about pixmania regarding delivery etc. I just bought a Canon camera for €1100 from Technik Direkt, a german site but 5 working days delivery time with delivery costing a measly €22 and the customer service was excellent, they have your camera in stock here and it's €2 more than pixmania but I have heard nothing but good things about technikdirekt and I have had a very good personal experience with them too

    Hi

Try www.bhphotovideo.com in New York. SUPER service, and Digital Cameras are exempt from import duty.

They have a D50, 6.1 Megapixel, SLR, Digital Camera Kit with 18-55mm DX Zoom Nikkor Lens and 55-200 DX Zoom Nikkor Lens for $850.00 plus about $130.00 for 3 day delivery.

That's about €820 in total for the camera and two lenses.

Think about it! BH are excellent - I have bought a D70 from them, a €1800 value lens and some smaller stuff.

I bought a D50 from Gunn's on Wexford St 2 weeks ago, great service and for a retail store you won't get much cheaper in Dublin. Here's the link to what I got ->

I am just back from the states and I purchased a D50 base body in B+H for Eur 624. This included 1gb of memory but excluded the lense as I can use my old Nikon 35mm lenses with the D50. The service from the guys in the shop was excellent.
