    Hi,
I am looking for a way to lock up my PC when I am away for a period of time. Is there an alternative to password protection such as encription?

    Thanks
    Gavin

And how would the files be encrypted/decrypted without a password/key of some sort?

What OS? BIOS pwd & hibernation or password screensaver. Anything that you're not working on should be encrypted (See pgp, or an encrypted volume)..
