Annoying Firefox Problem - help?

When I press Ctrl-N a new window opens but it always revert to my homepage which is google. It is quite annoying because on IE when you hit Ctrl-N it opens a new window with whatever you were viewing in it. It really slows down browsing having to copy the url and paste it back into the address window. I am on Firefox version 1.0.4, i downloaded it that time the star-adserver kept boards down to a treacle for 4 days in a row. the ff adblock quickly fixed that though. I am sure it probably easy to fix but how?

    I appreciate any help given

My first reaction is to open it in a new tab. Is there any reason why you want a new window as opposed to a tab?

ctrl + (shift)left-click link opens links in a new tab (or window, depending on preferences set).
Why does it bother you so much when there's a google entry box in the top anyway!?
    I prefer the FireFox method.

If you have a three button mouse (i.e. a clickable scroll wheel) just middle click a link and it opens in a new tab :p In the words of a friend of mine: "Its the shizzle!".

    not even on 1.0.7

NewsFlash - 1.5 has been out a while now. :D

Ctrl-N in 1.5 opens my homepages , all 5 tabs of it. so it's a design feature at this stage perhaps.

    Ctrl-T opens new tab

Duplicate Tab 0.6.2 allows you to open the current tab in a new window

Open [Link] in New Window = Shift+Left-click
