A computer engineer would deal with software while an electonic engineer would mainly deal with hardware. Both are connected ie software needs hardware to run on and hardware needs software to work

ur talkin about a software engineer kearnsr...a computer engineer only deals with a small amount of software so that he knows how to deal with hardware ..i definetly know that it is really hardware that the course offers cause it says it on the site..i just wanted to know wat is the difference between the two..if there both dealing with hardware?

Probably means the same thing. My course has been renamed from "Electronic Engineering" to "Computer and Electronic Engineering" or something like that.

There's not much of a difference really.
Take Maynooth for example offering Electronic, Computers and Communications Engineering and also a "General" Engineering Degree.

For the first 2 years you do the exact same subjects, go to the exact same lectures. In 3rd and 4th year your subjects will differ by maybe 1 subject out of 5 or 6 each semester which isn't much.By the time you reach 3rd year you'll have made up your mind and can change which course you want to do after the first 2 or 3 weeks after trying out the different subjects.

The specialist subject might be Radio Frequency or C+ or Mobile Communications or something similar.

It's gas 'cos the points for the 4 courses are all different!
