I am getting a media centre hi fi style pc.

i have it narrowed down to 2 from pc world. (i can get 10% discount from a mate):)

    Advent DHE500A for eur1200 or DHE2000 for eur1450

the main differences are as follows

    2.8ghz p4 or 3ghz p4 (both have 800mhz FSB)

    1mb cache or 2mb

    512mb ram or 1024mb

gfx cards are both 256mb- ATi x300HM or Nvidia 6200 turbocache

    finally 200gb hd or 250gb
The full specs are on www.pcworld.co.uk

the former are from the cheaper 500a

is it worth the extra 250euro for the 2000? i am not a big gamer
It will only be used as a pvr/dvd player, mp3/photo store and web browsing or does anyone have any other suggestions for me?

Not a fan of intel or dell but its better in everyway for someone who's never going to mess about upgrading or build their own.

If you arent a big gamer you dont even need to spend that much. You actually need a pretty basic system for doing what you describe - i have a athlon 1.33ghz that does it all fine and then some.

I seen the dell media centres, but they are all towers. The advents are piano black hi fi seperates style boxes and run very quietly and also have dvi outputs.

At the moment you have to pay for a nice looking media centre, so to sum up i would be wasting my money on the DHE 2000?
