Its hilarious to hear these comments... why were you so sure it was Mike? :)

"Tom wouldnt have that big a stack" was another of my favourites.

They probably thought it was me as a bubble finish was coming....

Well done Len, hopefully I will be playing against you! There can't be that many players with an English passport signed up to paddy power. Mind you if it was just me playing I would find a way to bubble :D

    shouldnt be a problem :)

at one stage you said you were mike! that's where i got confused!

always had faith in you Tom.

so explain the headsup match to me.... :p

I don't recall saying I was Mike but its possible, given Mike and I have (or at least are perceived to have) very different styles, its good to keep the opponents guessing :)

Headsup... online.... whats to explain. I picked the wrong hand(s) to get clever with and it came up tails.

Just to dispell any myths surrounding Len's nationality he qualifies for the Irish team as he holds an Irish Passpot. And of course won the tournament (that helps)

i was very tired and watching you while in bed (hope that makes you feel wired) but it seemed that once the deal was struck with equal stacks you were both all in preflop within a few hands, you calling with A2!?

i expected a long headsup match tbh

so Len is confirmed and you'll be there anyway to keep an eye on your 30% among other things. i have a feeling you'll make it onto the team somehow!

The last hand is haunting me a little. Obviously I did do something wrong but here was the thinking behind it.

Firstly I play tight generally, but heads up thats not such a good idea! I knew Len knew it was me but I put a little doubt into his head with some well timed moves on his blinds when we were short handed.

We'd made a deal but that didnt really affect the way I played the hand.

I smooth called and Len raised me to 3000ish. I reraised to imply a monster. Unfortunately I reraise the wrong amount and put 9000 MORE on top rather then making it 9000. Len thought about it for a good while then put me in with A8. Now, at this point I've put him on A8-J or a middling pair though I feel he has AT or some such.

I have 20k left and the pot stands at 46kish (I'm recalling this from memory here, but I think this is accurate).

I figured given the swings and roundabouts that I had a 30% shot at the pot. So, its on the edge but I also thought Len might be pushing me around (he was the more aggressive headsup). Considering that I will only have 20k to his 70+ if I fold and I made a crying-call.
I played poorly headsup but other then that I'm happy with my play lately.
Considering Limerick, SSF and now this game... 1,2,2 aint a bad record for my last few games.
Considering we have the SE 500 coming up and PE's 350 in Galway next week, I'm going in feeling confident.

Mike said something last week on a thread, something about transferring cash to PP to try and qualify for something.

    I put 2 and 2 together and got 8.:o

Hand history below..... I figured the chances were that I had the best hand. But that if Tom had a better hand than me IE: AK AQ AJ it would still be worth the all in... as if I lost I'd have 42k in chips approx to Tom's 68K. So it was almost a free go to knock him out. And there was a good chance he would fold of course.

At the stage we made our deal we were both even in chips - I think there is skill in heads up play for sure... but the luck element is huge.

    >[Dec 15 00:16:04] : Antesup called 2,400 and raised 9,600

That should have read Antesup calls 2,400 and raises 7,200. which would have left me with about 23k rather then 20k and I might well have dropped the hand. Ancient history now though. On the plus side Amp reckoned I didnt seem to pissed off about missing it (he's wrong I'm gutted, absolutely gutted) but the fact is that last year I won and won and won and this year I'd won feck all up to Limerick and my game sucked.

It wasnt bad luck (or I'd have been on here complaining about it lol), I just wasnt playing, I mean really concentrating or being a problem to others on the table.
As Daithio put it to me "I used to fear you on the tables and I don't any more". So right now, gutted as I am, I'm still glad to have the recent return to last years form, especially going into the xmas tournies and there are still chances left for a ticket so we'll see if I can't win one but no doubting that that was a wasted opportunity (apart from the 30%... which may yet become my biggest payday!)

Len, the payout for the MTT is
    50k
    30k
20k as far as I know.

The winning team gets 110K between them so if you win and Ireland wins, thats 160k. Or 48k for me.

Yeah, that would do fine Len. No cheques, just grubby 50's please. *cough*

    DeV.
