Thanks in advance for input guys and gals.

Please vote for which option you would prefer and post a comment whether you think either option is acceptable for the players, ie: is the cost for dealers too high or about right. Is the difference in payout worth having dealers etc...

ok, both options are based on €30 rebuy tournaments and an average of one rebuy and one top up per player. Both are non casino tournaments in hotels/pubs. The registration fee will apply to rebuys and top ups (remember this is NOT in a casino, no one is going to be able to run a tournament for €225-€375 and pay staff)

    Option A

    €27 + €3 Self deal

    1st €2000
    2nd €1250
    3rd €850
    4th €750
    5th €400
    6th €300
    7th €200
    8th €150
    9th €100

    Option B

    €25 + €5 Self deal

    1st €1900
    2nd €1200
    3rd €800
    4th €600
    5th €400
    6th €300
    7th €200
    8th €125
    9th €100

Which would you prefer option A or B or neither. 35 votes

    Option A - €27+€3 self deal - bigger prizepool

    Option B - €25 + €5 Dealer dealt

    They are both too expensive

    I would play either

Personally id do almost anything to avoid having it as a re buy tournie. Id play in if it was €25 + 5 self deal FO or id consider €40 + 10 (although this would be the absolute upper end of my budget) FO with dealers.

Either way i really hate re buys because i find that until the FO period its more like a crapshoot then a game of poker.

Yes, but that's where the big munzo comes from.

I prefer a €25/30 rebuy to a €50 Freezeout myself in this hotel environment.... if people want to use the re-buy period to contribute to the prize fund ... happy days as far as I'm concerned....much more profitable.

Drogheda is deadly if you make the money up there, obviously laundering all the hot money through Green Joker :)

Much prefer the dealer option. Sometimes if you can't get someone to deal all the hands at a table it gets very slow sometimes with some people and as it's on in a pub invariably there is someone locked at the table who ****s up every deal when it's their turn.

Also, I hate re-buys. Much prefer FO's. Re-buys seem to be a bit of a lottery to me. All in's all over the shop.

I HATE rebuys. Only rebuy I ever play is the freeroll. Cant stand playing rebuy tourneys. Freezouts are much better IMO.

I prefer having a dealer at the table, but if it means having more money in the prizefund and self deal I will usually pick that option. HOWEVER in this situation the difference is only 2 euro more into the prizefund and you still pay the same overall! If the diffence was bigger I would gladly take the self deal option, but the bigger the buy in, the more likely players are going to demand having proper dealers.

In this situation it would be very silly to go with the self deal option just to put an extra 2 euro into the prizefund (although I picked it for the sake of disagreeing....)

Different phases before and after break, different table mentality, different pace, but not a lottery ....just different.
If people are boosting the prize pool playing with muck then the better players should be able to use their edge to make it profitable in the long run.

The main reason I hear people complain about re-buys is that the guys with the deep pockets have an advantage. If this was on-line, it would be described as not having an appropiate bankroll....which I think is closer to the mark.

People tend to throw bankroll management out the window with offline tournaments.

Just to add that I know a lot of people do not like re-buys but there is no way that a dealt freezeout can be run outside of a casino at €50 without taking too much from the pool. re-buys create a big prize pool for a small initial buy in plus the casual players who frequent pub/hotel tournaments do not like freezeouts.

IMHO any decent poker player can overcome the 'gamble' early on and make these tournaments very profitable, this is certainly true at the ones I run where the majority of the final tables populated by the 'better' players. Obviously sometimes there are lucky people like culchie who get there also :D

I'd definitely go with the dealer option Mike.
