hello im new to this and am thinking of subscribing to blueface.ie, I have a new NTL 3MB connection and am using a Netgear wireless router WGR614, I would like to have a wireless setup for the phone also so im just wondering about my options, the router i have and the modem are on the 1st floor and i'm on the 3rd . I see blueface are offering a free netgear router/ATA here http://www.blueface.ie/products/nintynine.aspx but this is a wired setup! any solutions? thanks for your time.

oh and how much does it cost landline/mobile users to call 076 numbers?

Blueface are excellent and I highly recommend them. Their support is second to none. Why not test it by asking them these questions?

Do you mean you just want a cordless phone?
If so just get the Netgear router/ata from blueface then get yourself a cordless phone with 2-3 re-charge stations.

Relatively cheap and well worth it

    thanks they responded with:

ou could plug a wireless phone bastestation (e.g. normal DECT type
wireless phones) into the netgear router we are offering, and then use
multiple wireless handsets wherever you want them connected wirelessly
    to the basestation.

Cost to an 076 number should be the same as the cost for a local call -
so it depends on which network you are calling from.
Blueface dont charge for 076 calls.

    and this

to guarantee upstream quality of service you would need to put the
    TA612V before the WGR614.
    Briefly looking at the WGR614
(http://www.netgear.com/products/details/WGR614.php) it seems to have an
RJ45 WAN port (as opposed to a RJ11 phone type) and is a router - not a
modem, so your setup would be like this:
    Broadband modem > TA612V > WGR614 (((-)))

Alternatively you could use the Linksys WRT54GP2 that we supply
    (http://www.blueface.ie/devices/view.aspx?deviceSelected=WRT) which will
do the job of both the TA612V and the WGR614.

very informative, anyway who wants the 10 euro referal credit...first person to post after this gets it!

    :D

If you notice bad call quality, it's more than likely your upload speed. Ask them to enable the G.729a Codec. This is more compressed than the regular and takes up far less bandwidth. handy if yer a gamer, downloader etc.

I got my WRT ATA delivered today. Plugged in my phone and boom. Loads of VoIP calls off my home phone. Blueface even configured it for me :)

    Happy, happy days.

Cheers for the €10. I'm not going to tell you that it's not much good to me, as I'm on a monthly plan. Ah well, my bad :)

    But damn fine service

You need it for calls outside your monthly plan though. I rarely touch my credit but I like to have it.

Yeah, I thought of that later. I'm on the basic one at the moment, to test it. Gives me 5 hours of included calls. The extra credit may come in handy

The only time I've used my extra credit is when my gf calls my mobile from my landline. :) Other than the the 5 hours has been plenty.

    Hello folks.

My first time here, and ignorant about VOIP. I have NTL 3 Meg and don't game or download (except from iTunes). What's the story with this 076 stuff? I already have a Netgear wireless router. If I pay the €15 p/m will I get unlimited local/national calls to landlines.

    Thanks in advance.:)

Yes you will. You will need to get an adapter to allow you to plug your phone into the net connection though. Best bet is to get their 99€ offer, 6 motnhs of calls to ireland and the adapter.

    Thanks Paulm & DOTF.

Just downloaded the softphone and made calls to mobiles and landlines. Everything perfect incoming, but, funnily enough, people on landlines said there was a slight drop in conversation and a beep (like a dial tone) every so often. No problem with the mobiles though. Crystal clear.:)

Did you manage to connect your wgr614 to the TA612V and get VOIP to work.

I have wireless broadband provided by DigitalForge when I connect the broadband to the TA612V (needs to be a crossed cable) and the TA612V to the WGR614 my network can see the internet, I can make calls but canot hear anything when they answer neither can they hear me. Provided I Port forward 10000-20000 on the TA612v to its self, which is illogical, I can then hear incoming speech but no outgoing speech. Neither Blueface nor DigitalForge have been able to resolve the problem. If I just connect the TA612V to the broadband connection the result is the same incoming but no outgoing. If I try and connect the TA612V to a LAN port on the WGR614 then I get no response at all. However if I connect the TA612V to a LAN port on a network with an ADSL broadband connection it works fine but obviously without Qos.

Has anybody out there managed to get the TA612V to work on a wireless broadband connection.

My setup is cable modem - netgear ata - netgear wireless router. Works pefectly (even if I put the ata AFTER the wireless router). Is that any help?

I connect my NTL modem to the TA612V and then into the WGR614. That was the advice from Blueface and on the Netgear site.
