ntl are upping all 3mb customers in the north and uk to 10mb in the new year ive heard. maybe theyre doing upgrades/testing down here aswell ???? they might have upped the network speed temporarily for testing.

NTL UK have upgraded their customers. They are NOT the same company as NTL Ireland.

Actually when the NTL engineers visited a month or so ago to swap out my modem for the newer, smaller blue model I asked them about the buyout and they said that they would be upgrading to 8 - 10 Meg in the near future, and this was the reason for the modem swap. Basically my old terrayon couldnt handle the faster speeds.

Perhaps, they are still not the same as NTL UK though. I don't doubt an upgrade is imminent however just because BT up their DSL speeds (in the UK) it doesn't mean Eircon will.

Yeah the were up to something today in Ardkeen village today, they were messing with the exchange even though it had already been activated a good while ago.
I was wondering though because today it was peopel in an unmarked van with casual tracksuits on.

It's nerd speak for "turn it off, wait 30 seconds, turn it on again".
Sorry about that, I just get swept along with this forum lark! :)

My NTL bb dropped yesterday too, had to powercycle (sounds like a strange exercise) the modem. Didnt check the speed actually, didnt think of it at all until now, but it seemed faster. (Terenure)
