Just wondering if anyone has connected their 360 to their pc wirelessly through a router. I ask because i hope to do this myself when i get ntl installed. I will have my 360 wired to the router and the pc connected over wireless to the router. Has anyone else got a similar set up or know if this will work? Any help would be great.

Yup I do, well Kinda my set up is as follows...

My 360 is wired to a wireless bridge which connects to my router wirelessly, so although the connection is essentially wireless I use the Ethernet port on the 360.

My PC with mediashare is connected wirelessly to the router.

It all works spiffingly well, with the exception of some firewall trouble form my PC but managed to get around it.

I have my 360 connecting wirelessly to my router and I can access Xbox Live with no problems. I do have a problem though accessing my PC. I have Media Connect installed on the PC and it is configured to allow my XBox but when I run the Media Test, it fails at the Computer Stage. It's not the firewall because I have the Xbox's IP address added to the allowed section but I have also turned off the firewall in case that was messing with it. Still no joy. Any ideas?

im in the exact same boat lfcfan, maybe its something to do with setting up a home network on our pc's? i have media connect and all the software recommended, when i run the connection software downloaded from xbox.com, my pc cant find my 360. and its connected to the same 3com router.
edit: my pc is allowing the 360 to connect in media connect, but when i open the photo option on the 360, it shows my pc but says i have a firewall on. ive turned off all firewalls, still no joy.
lfcfan, is your prob the same? ive run the setup on pc, but i was never asked for the security code that was given to me in the media connect menu on the 360.
im gonna pull my hair out. :)
edit: i did it, you have to turn off norton, which is a dodgy thing to do if your pc is connected to broadband.
    its pretty cool though.

my problem is that my PC says it allows the 360 but the 360 fails when trying to find my PC. There is no indication on the 360 that there is a PC available to connect to. I haven't seen any security code on the Media Connect software? I have Avast installed and not Norton. I wonder if it could be blocking it. Will try this evening. Thanks!

I was have the same problem as ye lads, but I just noticed that even though it doesn't connect when I click on media centre button, i don't need to click it.
All my folders are accessible through the music/pictures/video selections and then under 'computer'.

    Sweet

Just realised this is only for music/pics not for video

Yep, i have exactly the same setup. Is there some way to get video working with a normal XP Pro machine? Someone mentioned something about having the films in the proper format... but I think this is probably only possible with a Media Center computer. Am I right?

Heres hoping someone writes an open source hack which emulates the media centre app :)
