Just wondering if anyone knows how many vents you have to put in a roof? We are about to commence our roofing and I am doing a little bit of research but I'm not sure I understand it correctly. We are building a dormer so it is my understanding we have to put venting in the ridge, and in the eaves (do we also need vent slates)?

    Hi Eve1,

If you are using a vapour permeable underlay like Tyvek or Starex protec etc the general guide is a 25 mm continous vent at the eaves and 5 mm at the ridge.

What might be easier is if you email roofconsult@eircom.net I will send you the full brochure on roof vents.
