Right, as most people know "Do They Know It's Christmas?" version 1 was released December 1984.

    In 1989, a new line-up and re-recorded "Do They Know It's Christmas?".

    In 2004 a third line-up re-recorded the song for the 20th anniversary.

IMO the original is the best, hands down. '89 and '04 are utter crap compared to it. The artists are not performing as well, the changes to the song to modernise it simply does not go - rant rant

But, am I right? Is there someone here that feel that '04 is sooo much better that "that lame old version"? Lets put it to the old vote...

I never heard the '89 one but the '84 one was by far the best. They were the only line up that actually put their hearts into it.

I love the first one. The second one is good too (but not as good). The third one is utter tripe and should be banned.

    Who cares in all honesty?

I kinda liked the 2004 version for some reason though...

I wonder if they're watching vids in Ethopia right now of the suffering caused throughout GB and Ireland as a result of having to listen to that song 15,000 times a day for 6 weeks.

"Well tonight thank god it's them instead of you!"

Definitely '84. The rap ruins the newest version.

Without a doubt the 1984 one is FAR superior than 1989 or 2004. Last year most of the so-called artists were just there for cosmetic reasons, and not because they have any actual talent or presence. The 1989 one was just foul. There's a certain rawness to the original version that stands the test of time... plus it has Phil Collins in top form on the drums.
