The second one is a lot more "future-proof" it is much better value itr has DDR2 ram where as the first only has DDR. also the second one has a Pentium 4 630 and the first only has a celeron

The first one is allready out dated

The second however has a Very bad graphics card if you want it for gaming and it it says 256mb v ram, but that uses system ram so you are only left with around 700mb system ram

I say go with the second one, if you want to play games, add a 6600gt or something like that if you have the option

sorry for asking , why do you say that the first one is so outdated?

    Hmm...
DDR and DDR2 - there isnt much difference. DDR will be easily available for years to come so that isnt an issue and DDR2 isnt much faster. Plus you never really buy a Dell to be future proof at that level as they leave no scope for upgrading much.

The P4 630 is alot better than the celeron.

The X300 will be fine if you just do light gaming - miles better than onboard anyway. It also says nothing about using system ram... Upgrading a card from Dell normally costs the same or more as it does as buying it in a shop anyway...

All in all it depends on what you want the machine for. If you just surf the net and use office applications and are happy with a CRT monitor, go for the first one. You can actually get the same spec a fair whack cheaper within Dell.

Actually I dont know where you got those crazy prices from - they're ridiculous.
http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/dimen_1100?c=ie&cs=iedhs1&l=en&s=dhs - one on the right - same spec except the CDRW and .13ghz slower - €480

Also, for €1039, look at the dell Dimension 9150 -

    P4 630, 1gb ram, 160gb hdd, 17" LCD, 256MB PCI ExpressT ATI RadeonT X600, 48x CD-RW Drive & 16x DVD-ROM Drive etc
Miles better for the money than the second one..
