    Hi,

I got my new laptop and its split into 2 partitions. One for Audio and one for General. The hard drive is split into 4. It consists of the C (something like 10GB), D (something like 25GB), G (I think ist G, its called Audio with something like 15GB) and S (Scratch, with something like 6GB). Im just wondereing hpow should i use the different areas? I suppose whatever programmes i use for the audio section (G) i should install here and anything else (ie games etc) should go in the General (C). Then i presume any data i store (ie all my music wav's and mp3's for the Audio programmes) should go in Data (D). Am i right at that? And wots woith the scratch drive (S)?? The Audio section im told has had windows tampered with it so that it runs quicker just for music related things.

I sent the company i got it from a email but i havnt got a response.

    Thanks a mil

a Scratch disk is used for temporary data - scratch disks can be set to erase all data at regular intervals so that the disk space is left free for future use. I've only ever seen it used with Photoshop (But it would be conceivably used for audio/video eiditing programs..)

    The rest sounds about right.
If you don't like the way they've done it - then get a repartitioning tool and change them (Warning: may lose data.. which is why i'd suggest doing it now before you have any to worry about..)

What make is the laptop? Was it second-hand?
