Delay

    In need of some advice.

Well, I'll be picking myself up a delay pedal for christmas & I'd appreciate some reccomendations. Price cieling is about €250 and versatility is essential.

I almost impulse bought a Line 6 Echo Park, very impressive, versetile, great price, however a I did a little reasearch. Turns out there are serious noise issues that lead to a 50-50 love/loathe divide. I havn't ruled it out but it did shake my confidence.

Generally I'd be running it with delay time down & feedback up, fairly noisy, but i'd also need a variety of longer, spacier sounds. The more the better.

I'm still finding my feet in the world of effects, currently i'm running a Godin SD-XT guitar through a Boss OS-2 & a Dunlop Hendrix wah which i click on to add a scuzzy raspiness or to generally screw with the sound, not as a traditional wah.

    Advice, oppinion, experience welcome.

Perhaps try pick up a Boss DD6 cheap second hand, find out what it is you want out of a delay on that, then sell it on and invest in a more expensive unit when you're sure of the features you want and don't want?

Maybe pick a delay type you like from some band and find out what they use?

the dd-6 is a bit overpriced, for the few extrea features ive a dd-3 its good for a normal stanrard delay does the job well, i didnt hear great things about the digitech one, and the line 6 is the only other one i know, BUT cant u save 2 settings on the line 6 delay?

I don't think so, possibly on the DL-4, the Echo Park seems to be a miniture version of it. it does have tap tempo & infinite repeat, both of which seem better than the boss. It also can be set to mimic analog & tape as well as digital.

Been scouting around, as far as copying my favourite bands goes, they mostly seem to use old analog delays, time for a trip to ebay methinks.

I have the echo park, it only hisses when its on an unisolated power source eg. a daisy chain, it works really well on a standard boss PSU with no other pedals eating the current

Electro Harmonix and Ibanez both have analog delays out at the moment. I haven't tried the Ibanez one but the EH one is quite good but I've heard they're not the most reliable thing on earth. If you have a LOT of money I'd recommend the Moog Moogerfooger analog delay. But it's very very very very expensive.

i have a dd3 and love it to peices, fantastic smooth sound, great feedback thats not as voilent as other pedals some are abit to harsh for my like, great for palying u2 songs or trying out some brian may harmony solo's, especially when ran through an effects loop and not running straight in

All this talk of delay has forced me and my credit card to order a DD6. Damn you all :D

    ^a wise choice. i got a DD6 and it is the **** :)
i have a 20 minute "song" in which i use just it and my wah pedal, directing feedback from my guitar. alas my iRiver battery went dead after 2:17, so i only have part of it
