any one have a particular style of play for pub games? I find its a almost a bit harder to play in pub games as there is less respect shown to raises and players are likely to fall in love with any ace. i try to play VERY tight til the break and top-up stage then go after the short stacks. any ideaS?

Some Pub Tournies are a crapshot, buyins cheaper than entry with more chips, top up twice the chips of entry, I usually play a Double chance or 1 Rebuy or Top up tournaments in pubs and they are usually a better game. Don't like the multi rebuys, you have lots of people going all in every 5 mins.

I usually play tight for the first orbit or so and decide what to do from there, usually play tight and rob the odd blinds, stay in contention until the break and have a go from there, all going well...

Only advice I would have is not to play them IMO

May i ask why not?? or have you have you been at every single pub tourney and rate them all the same?? There are few enough opportunities in most parts of the country to get to a casino so pub games certainly fill a void and not all are run by rip off merchants though admittedly there are afew out there.

No, surprisingly enough I havent been to EVERY pub tourney, but the ones I have gone to have been absolutely abysmal. And I understand some people are unfortunate enough to live in the middle of nowhere and not have much choice.

HOWEVER I presume that D.I.T stands for DUBLIN Institute of Technology and therefore he is able to play in the casino, which I think everyone will agree, is not even comparable in standard to ANY pub game out there.
