Has anyone done this? Ive a bsc in Business Info Sys Development sadly im useless at programming never picked it up at all so it has limited my work options i havent teh confidence to try it again cos im so bad at it. I am good at the mangement/sales/accountign side of my degree though. A freind suggested doing the Accounting Technicians course co sits 2 years part time and it pays well. Just wonderign what its like? Also I did law, cost & management accounting and financial accoutnign as part of college (i got 86 percent and 56 percent) would this qualify me for an exemption??

I completed the Accouting technician course earlier this year. The pay is good from it but it is relatively hard work to qualify. You should get expemtions from some first year subjects at least with your previous qualifications but contact them directly first. If you do get exemptions try to get as many exams as you can done in the first year as it makes life easier in the long run.

Since i completed it ive gone back to do CPA so it cant have been that bad!

One final thing is that its relatively expensive when you add up Student Fee's to Iati, Tuition Fee's ,manuals , books and weekend revision fee's but definitely worth it. You also need 2 years relevant work experience to qualify so obviously try to get this as your studying its not too hard to build it up.

Once I started the course I noticed employers looking at my CV in a more positive light so its definitely worth it.

If you need more information just ask or PM

I've also completed the IATI, its a very good grounding and gives you a good insight into the world of acounting, without actually committing yourself to too much. If you like the work and the college, then you can progress on to bigger and better things.
