I have just put my new pc together spent hours trying to hide all the wires to my horror find out that the mb only support DDR400! Now I have a DFI Lanparty LP NF4 SLI-DR mb and I have gotten DDR2 ram PC 4200! It's OCZ ram so it's good stuff!
Now the problem I have is that the pc will not boot up! I thought that it might downgrade its self but no look! Just keep getting long intermittent beeps! If I take out one stick (it's 2 x 1GB) the standby led on the mb wont flash but as soon as I stick in the second stick the standby led on the mb flashes like nuts!
Am i correct in thinking that this ram is not compitable with my mb and will have to sell it and get DDr400?

Thanks for your help in advance! Please no smart comments only helpful comments!:( :(:o

One time I mistakenly tried to fit ddr2 into a ddr motherboard slot and it didn't actually fit so....AFAIK it's not backwards compatible.

I'm surprised you even got it into the motherboard - it shouldn't fit.

It's no good to you. Sell or swap it. And learn from your mistake - research your purchases before you buy!

    Is it an AMD system?
AMD doesnt support DDR2 yet due to the memory controller being integrated into the chip and not the motherboard.
It's a mistake alot of people seem to be making - I think its a matter of "I have to buy the bestest fastest ram possible, omg this has a 2 after it!!"...
I miss the days of good old SIMM memory, and the joys of people asking why their PCs werent working with one stick of ram :D
