    An Searcóg, in Cavan. :)

We are only a junior team, but we have quite a few good young players coming through at the moment. We got to the championship semi final and we lost yesterday in the league final replay. We have always been there or there abouts but always seem to choke when we come to the crunch. We would be as good as an average intermediate team IMO.

Football: Clondegad - Intermediate team got to final last year but avoided relegation this year by getting a walkover in the last game. Junior team got to semi final in league and gave a walkover in the championship round 1 due to a stag nite the previous night in which 18 possible players were in attendance!

Hurling: Ballyea - Retained Senior status in our first year after promotion (won the Senior B for the first time ever the previous year). Junior team got promoted in the league and reached championship quarter final.

I thought you played for Bailieboro Porn, not Shercock? I'm a Lavey man myself. Not a great year for us but the minors had success and the U21s may too.

No, no, no! Wouldn't play for Bailieborough if I was payed Lemlin! I just went to school there, and at that I wouldn't even play for the school. Bailieborough are a team on the slide big time. Our Junior B team beat their "C" team by 4 points (would have been 7 but for a penalty in the last minute), even though they fielded 7 senior players.

Lavey's U-14's have a good team, they gave our lads a right good hammering in the Championship final this year. Our lads had won the U-13 championship earlier in the year which says alot for Lavey.

Would you say your U-21's will beat Munterconnacht in the semi-final? They have a very good team. Drumalee will be too strong for everyone though.

I never liked Bailieboro myself. I remember at an U13 game where they were beating us by a point and their manager came on and told them that whenever they got the ball to act injured and run down the clock. It was a semi final alright but an U13 match, for gods sake, he was hardly teaching them fair play.

Lavey always do well at underage level. The team I was in won 5 U12 and U14 county titles in a row, a record. We also got to the U21 county final last year but lost to Ballinagh. Sadly me and a few of the other lads are overage this year but all most of the others want is another pop at Ballinagh.

We should beat Munterconnaught. It'll be an interesting match because alot of the players know each other well from the secondary school in Virginia. My one worry is that Lavey haven't been tested. We beat Killinkere 1-18 to 1-3, and two of the lads scored 1-15 of that between them!

Alot of the minors that won the championship this year are playing well too. It should be a good game though, the Munchies are a good team.

Yeah, we made a premature exit from the competition against Ballymachugh. We should really have won despite missing 4 main players - Ogie Burns, Liam O'Reilly, Michael O'Reilly and Shane McPhillips. We kicked 21 wides to their 6 and ended up losing 1-9 to 1-5.

McPhillips and Burns would have made a huge difference on the day as their midfielder McKiernan more or less won the game for them. Burns is one of the best fielders of a ball I've ever played with. He toyed with Lorcan Mulvey (B'bridge and Cavan) in a minor game a few years ago, and ended up scoring 2-6. McPhillips would have gotten at least one goal for us in the game as he is an absolutely lethal finisher (next Jason Reilly IMO). He scored 4-5 against Cuchullains this year in the minor div 2, and had scored loads of important goals for Cavan u-16's in the Manning Cup two years ago.

But it wasn't to be, you can't put a full team out every time so I have no reason to take anything away from Ballymachugh, they took their scores on the day and we didn't. Didn't help that one of the footballers had a wedding the night before either.

    :D

    Saint Farnan's, County Sligo.

Won Junior title and will compete in the Intermediate league this coming season. W00t.

    Park/Ratheniska - Laois.

Dual club at Junior A level, won the hurling league, lost both Championships at the last hurdle.
What a bummer that was, Portlaoise knocked us out of the football league semi as well.

A productive year, with only 1 reward... back to the grind stone again in a few weeks.:o
