I have a few of them and I also think that they are a great car. I bought a three year old one in 1988 and still have it. I also bought a 1986 one with only 72k miles and one owner and completely original condition. Its hard to find one that hasn't been modified or crashed and I think they are destined to be a classic of the future on doubt. I can't seem to upload photos at the moment but I posted them here a few weeks ago.

I had a 1984 one which I bought in 1988 and had it for a few years. I just recently bought this 1990 8v which is totally unmodified - well it was until I replaced the plain glass with a set of green factory tints and am putting a set of 15' BBS Corrado G60 alloys on it too - and upgrading the brakes.:p

Yes I think they are a classic - but my insurance company begs to differ.
