Its gone crazy again just like last Thursday
Disruption: No DART service south of Dalkey by Press Office

Due to damage to overhead power lines, there are currently no DART services operating south of Dalkey. Some delays may result to other services, including Rosslare and Gorey services.

Iarnród Éireann crews are working to rectify the fault.

Dublin Bus will honour rail tickets for customers travelling to areas south of Dun Laoghaire.

DART services are also delayed due to a truck hitting a bridge at Custom House Quay earlier.

Iarnród Éireann apologises to customers for any inconvenience caused.

Get the bus http://www.dublinbus.ie/your_journey/viewer.asp?route=8 the number 8 is back ! Get to Blackrock first and board same for the 45 if you want Bray

Claim your refund if it takes you an hour longer to reach your end destination

No one can ever explain why Bray Greystones is shut down when the fault is elsewhere

I always assumed it is becasue there are no trains past the break/fault so they can't run what isn't there. Do they store trains in Greystones

Bray station always has a train set in it the sidings would have a few trains as well since the rush hour hadn't started

Bray Greystones can be operated electrically separately if required so even if the fault was just beyond the rear of Bray Wanders ground services could be sustained, IE just couldn't be arsed it has happened far too many times.

Its now inexcess 30 minutes late going south

Ah, but you'd have to go to the Labour Court on short notice to negotiate payments for operating such a short route. The emotional distress caused by regularly turning around would be considerable.

It's always got to do with stormy weather bringing down the power lines between Dalkey and Killiney on the clifftops, with the trains they have stored at Bray, the could still run services between Killiney & Bray/Greystones

I am no train engineer but maybe there is a reason . Being very basic how would you know which train is meant to be going which direction?
I f people are claiming they know better than the engineers and that they no it is pure laziness then fine. If it is just a load of "I know better" and a"all public servants are lazy" I don't really care as you aren't discussing the issue but just making wild accusations.

    Heres what happened in town.
I always knew one day a camera phone would come in handy.

What happened yesterday was a truck of some kind on a building site in Shankill came into contact with the overhead system, damaged it and tripped the circuit breakers out

The drivers contacts/terms/agreed position is to drive between Malahide/Howth Greystones what routes are operated is an opperational matter once the unions are happy with rosters For many months before the Greystones extension opened officially there was a shuttle service back and forward on Sunday to Bray. Such is not unusual as many will know drivers swap at Bray. In comparison try the Waterloo and City line in the UK its only 3 minutes end to end

The drivers are all issued with a timetable which tells them what to do next after a train terminates, in the Greystones situation the train would use the dead end platform in Bray. The signalling system ensures nothing goes wrong and instructions are given by radio telephone when there is disruption. The radio system is quite clever since it is almost a dialled system so if the signalman calls train E111 only train E111 will hear the conversation

End of the day its only a matter of time before its goes automatic

It's hardly IE's fault when two seperate road vehicles collide with their lines in one day.
