Dried up printer cartridges

    Hi

Looking for a bit of help here.

My Dell 720 has been sitting around unused for over 3 months. There is still ink in the cartridges that came with it. (Very low usage) I've no intention of buying replacement cartridges (get new printer first). The print when I tried to use it over the weekend was very faint. Is there any way to reactivate presumably dried up heads. I tried cleaning with surgical spirits with no joy.

Still not to bad, all my colour printing needs for €15 for the lasy year. Not too bad. :)

Usually the only other way is to use a head clean from the printer software menu, problems is is this wastes ink and will most likely use up whatever ink is left in the cartridge.

I had a similar problem with my Canon print head, the only method that cleared it was sticking it in boiling water and a good blow of compressed air, depending how bad it is it might take several attempts. I had tried cleaning fluid, damp tissues ad nauseum.

    :D

Many thanks, left them sitting in a mug of freshly boiled water and dried off with paper towel.

Bingo, worked first time. Good job that the rubbish hadn't been collected as I had already thrown it out. Saw your post and decided to give it one more try.
