Is the DVD writer an SATA one and you want to put it on and IDE connector or an IDE writer that you want to connect to the SATA bus?

There are convertors available to plug IDE devices on to the SATA bus but they're not very good (in my experience).

The post is obvious. He wants a solution to connect a SATA drive to an IDE socket.

    1. Return the drive and get a IDE one.
    2. Buy a cheapo SATA card. http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=118181&cks=PRL
