Got a new computer only a few weeks ago and there is a virus on it. Not sure what it's called but it's something like dill??

Only able to log in with ctrl+alt+delete, even then you can't access everything.

Have McAfee antivirus protection and a pop-up comes up about every 10secs with
'McAfee ActiveShield has found a suspect file on your computer. McAfee strongly recommends that you scan your computer now.'

Any ideas how to fix this????

    Thanks in Advance, marshmallow

Boot in safe mode and run the virus scan. If it won't let you even get into the pc, it'll be a format job I'd guess.

run stinger. stinger is a standalone removal tool, can be obtained from the network associates site. Link below:

Sorry that doesn't mean that much to me..

I clicked on your link and it lists 54 viruses for me.. But doesn't seem to be getting rid of them.

    To get into Safe mode:

    Restart the computer.

As soon as the BIOS loads, begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. Do so until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears.

If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. If this happens, restart the computer and try again.

Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, select Safe mode and then press Enter.

Thanks, I'll give this a shot. The computer completely went and it's not accessible using ctrl+alt+delte anymore..

    ?

Accessible.... CTRL + ALT + DEL, will just bring up task manager, or if pressed twice will restart the computer.
