I have a yahoo e-mail address but my sister relies on the crappiest form of e-mail going (mymeteor.ie), I was going to setup a yahoo email for her only problem is it only offers it in a @yahoo.co.uk format, I want this to be @yahoo.ie, anyone know how to change this as it says nothing on the page about it changed country of origin to Ireland and still no luck. I am stuck with @yahoo.co.uk myself and it can confuse people, I could offer her a Gmail invite from my own Gmail, but that would only be @googlemail.com and not @gmail.com, I myself got caught with @googlemail.com as i joined too late. Gmail says a lot more imo.

If anyone can enlighten me on how to setup an @gmail.com or @yahoo.ie email then it would be very much appreciated. Also if this isn't exactly the right forum for this please feel free to move it.

No but my isp is Skydsl and always shows me as if i'm in Germany, Google.com become google.de and the pop-up ads are sometimes in German. Maybe this is what is causing it, I shall try it with Skydsl turned off and it will recognise my Eircom-net dial-up as irish.

yea could be that. UtV users are often lableled as uk users. So maybe ur isp is in the same boat

    yahoo.com or yahoo.ie easy.

gmail might be harder since they had a fight in Germany with a crowd already using 'gmail' and Google had to promise that anyone from Germany would get googlemail.com

    So, to yahoo.

When you go the signup page, the address bar will say something like:

    http://edit.europe.yahoo.com/config/eval_register?.intl=uk&new=1&.done=http://mail.yahoo.com&.src=ym&partner=&.p=&promo=&.last=

Just change that 'uk' to 'us' or 'ie', hit return and you'll have a .com or .ie ending after your new username (it shows it on the form).

EDIT: Ah yes, the difference between the easy way and the hard way... never mind the above, just use the dial-up.

It doesn't really matter about googlemail.com anyway, any mail sent to username@gmail.com or username@googlemail.com will be delivered to the same inbox.

Thanks for that info edanto, I shall try it and see how it goes. (I will report back here on my findings)

excellent, I sent an email to myself @gmail (despite it being a @googlemail) and it worked so now i'm calling it @gmail despite it being @googlemail anyway also for the yahoo mail sign up edanto's advice worked the treat and i can now sign up for a yahoo.ie account. Anyone have pro's or cons of Gmail Vs Yahoo, I like yahoo as it is faster to load as i always have to hit refresh about 3 times to get gmail to come up on screen on IE not on FF though.
