BF2 CTF Released

The Desert Conflict Mod team have released a mini CTF mod for BF2. You can grab it at http://desert-conflict.org

There are not many servers up at the moment as the DCON lads are only releasing to trusted partners but as soon as TiG can sort it we hope to have a CTF server up.

Was playing it there for a bit.
Tis good, much more intetense than vanilla since the fighting is more concentrated.

Yeah I like it. There have been a few hiccups, like flags ending up in mid air and people not being able to get to them, but the devs are fixing as we speak.

Right,I know this may sound stupid,but I installed the above mod to the bf2 mods folder,that IS the right place,how do I launch it,there is no launch button for it in the mods folder or a desk top quick launch icon.Launching it from the bf2 ingame browser,well there is no option to launch it from there either?How did ye launch it when ye tried it?

You need to extract it into the mods folder @ C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods not into the my_doc's /battlefield 2/mods folder. That should do the trick.

Is your normal BF2 still running ok after you installed it? Think i'll leave it for a day or two yet, cause I really can't be arsed having to do anything like reformatting the hard drive or reinstalling the game again,for what seems like the millionth time since the game came out

{edit} looks like it's an .exe file so you don't need to extract it anywhere, just download and click to set up

To activate the mod go to the community page in game. Then click on custom games, choose dcon and then activate. Then when browsing for a server make sure you choose same game etc.

This is quite good and the dcon guys are tweaking the servers all the time to improve playability. TiG should have a server up in the next few days.

Yeah, I think we need to organise a CTF night or something, there is rarely people on the TiG server. Played once with 5 or 6 of the TiG guys, I think at least one of my team was AFK though

I'll try and sort out some people to play online tomorrow night lads. We are also looking at rejiging the servers, maybe smaller player numbers and smaller maps, ie 32 play servers with 16 player maps etc.

Have you guys read my mind, I am dying to get the old infintry wars going, I don't even mind the ground vehicles, but what is anybody meant to do against the planes and choppers except get in a plane or chopper themselves which I cant fly

in short plz do this!!

Now that sounds fun! If it's gonna be anything like the 64-bot SP hack played on 16-player maps, 'tis gonna be absolutely frantic!

I'd imagine we'd lose our ranked server by doing that, so don't expect anything that radical. (Can you imagine the points you'd clock up on Karkand 16 with 64 peeps).

Smaller maps ftw though.
