Balbriggan DART

It would have been nice if T21 had included electrification of the DART line as far as Drogheda. I don't know why it didn't.

But just looking at the early morning timetable (up to 0930), and leaving aside Enterprise services - the average journey from Drogheda to Connolly takes 56 minutes.

Going by the current timetable, the Balbriggan-Malahide journey is about 21 mins (perhaps quicker with electrification?) and the Malahide-Connolly journey is currently about 22 mins. This should give an electrified Balbriggan-Connolly journey of at most 43 minutes.

On Drogheda trains which stop at all or most stations north of Malahide, the journey time between Drogheda and Balbriggan is about 16 minutes.

Just wondering, but when electrification to Balbriggan happens, could a shuttle service running all day, every 20 minutes or so between Drogheda and Balbriggan, provide a better service than is currently provided by the occasional direct service into Dublin?

(i.e., if there were seamless connections and so forth, the journey time between Drogheda and Dublin Connolly would be about 1 hour, but there could be a 3 times an hour service)
