    Hi Guys,

I'm sorry for posting another one of this VAT/Customs posts but Ive been searching the web for ages and it has got me no closer to the answer.

I recently bought a laptop of eBay the Value being USD 175.00 and i was charged USD 62.65 for shipping and insurance.

When the package arrives I was charged VAT of EUR 42.21 and EUR 5 processing fee.

So i was racking my brains to where they got the EUR 42.21 figure as they failed to provide any documentation apart from a sticker on a box and a delivery man demanding money.

    When i did the math, USD 175 + USD 62.65 = approx EUR201 * 21% = EUR42.21

So can they do this, can you be charged VAT on shipping?

    Thanks in advance

    Brian
