My brother won two tickets to see Jason Byrne the comedian in Vicar street tomorrow night but he cant go so he offered me the tickets. I have no idea if this guy is funny or not and I dont wanna waste my time going in if he is rubbish.

So just wondering is he any good or not and has anybody here gone to one of his shows before?

I've only seen him on his BBC TV show. He is a complete nutter but I find him funny. I would guess that most people would be split down the middle with him......either he would just annoy them.....or they would find his zany humour very funny.
You might as well go to his gig though, even if you don't find his brand of comedy funny, it will probably be a bit of craic.

    ^^ what he said.
    each to their own tbh.
He's a bit "mad" and likes shouting a lot.
If the tickets are free, It'd be worth it ;)

He's very, very good! Probably the funniest comedian I've ever seen live.

I went to the christmas show last year and it was great craic. A big sing song at the end and everything.

His humour isn't very prepared or rehearsed, and much of his material will stem from audience interaction etc, so it's a breath of fresh air compared to all those routines you've heard a million times before. It's very stream-of-consciousness at times, but almost always hilarious.

Oh, he played the referee in the Father Ted football episode, but not Father Damo.

No that was the one with the Over 70's Five a Side Football Match... Fr Damo was the young gurier priest who Dougle hung around with in the Whistle episode...

Ok I watch way too much Fr Ted...:o

    :p

He used to have a show on RTE a few years back. At one point in one of his shows he tried to get into one of the audience members jumper while the guy was wearing it. Can't stand him tbh.

    Obviously not!

I was quoting the Over 70's Five A Side Football Match as Jason Byrne was the referee in it!

    BURN!

He can be funny at times...

If you don't like manic jumping around and general tom foolery in your comedy, then you're probably not gonna like him...

I'd say hes a mix between Hector(sp?) and Tommy Tiernan x10 to the power of stupidity..

probably cuz they all come from the same place... maybe... do they?

    I dont know

Exactly. I've seen him a number of times, most recently in Clonmel this summer, and he's always been brilliant!

I don't think he translates to tv very well (that rte show was pretty bad) so it's best not to judge him on that.

    Definitely go and see him.

As far as i know he is the Guy who appeared on 'The Late Late Show' with them fake hands. He started to rub his face with them. He has got auburn hair. Kinda looks like Hector (irish speaking guy)!!
