Was at Tuesdays gig, went that night for a reason.

Anyone else reckon Brown acted like a baby most of the gig, after each song, harassing the sound and support crew.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Brown and Roses fan, have seen him 5 times inthe last 3-4 years. I was at the gig in the village and that was unreal, but Tuesday night was more of the usual.

He headbutted his sound guy at the edge of the stage after the 1st/2nd song. Now granted the sound from his mike sounded crap at first til it was cleared up, at least he had Monday night to clear up any technical nonsense !!! But starting and stopping songs and restarting was a bit annoying, again.

I understand he wants to get it right for the fans and he said this at the olympia gig last yr, but come on.

He had Aziz Ibrahim on stage and made him and the band look like retards when he walked off, more than once.

I've come to expect this at his gigs but it's quite annoying, I left half way through the encore.

I also think the fact that someone near the front nearly landed a half-empty pint on stage when he came out, didn't set the scene, Man he was not impressed and I thought that was the gig over !!

Anyways, enough ranting, if all his songs on the night sounded like Golden Gaze did, then I wouldn't be writing this !!!

As much as I love everything about the man, he acts like a pensioner sometimes and I hate old people.

Only 1 Brown dadaism, afet the bouncers grabbed someone at the front, he said " Violence is there trdemark ". That made my night.

He's an Olympic standard arsehole. I went to his first solo gig way back just after Unfinished Monkey Business was released and, apart from the truly ****e standard of everything (songs, performance, enthisiasm, etc) he felt the need to play what felt like a 60 minute version of that chronically bad So Many Soldiers tune and an embarrasingly **** version of Thriller... twice. It was the worst gig I've ever been to by a long, long way. What made it worse was all the uber Roses fans going mental because it was Ian Brown, regardless of the standard of performance. That night not only destroyed whatever chance Ian Brown had as a solo artist for me, it also shattered the legend of the Stone Roses for me too.

    Worst.

    Gig.

    Ever.

And we all recall the charming video of him attacking a security guy with a microphone after his other goons had subdued the poor ****er?

He was acting like this at the oxegen gig during the summer as well. Restarted a few songs etc because of dodgy sound. You'd think after whatever amount of years on the road that he'd sort out his obvious ongoing sound issues.

A mate was at the gig the other night when he headbutted the sound guy. From what i have heard it was an ambassador theatre person??? (not entirely sure though)

I've lost what little respect I ever had for him...

hope the sound guy gets a few grand. saw him acting the tosser once, i think he was supporting the manics, kept saying crap to some guy in the crowd, acting like a drunk 15 year old scumbag acting the hard man.

Belfast last night was even worse!!!!

After a great George Best tribute at the start...3 songs in and it took him four times to get it right. The sound was poor and to be honest if he was having the same problems in Dublin I wouldn't put it down to the venue. Any of you who have been to the Ulster Hall will know how good a venue it is.

He had a few bottles thrown at him was was continually goading the audience. He had a guy removed for giving him the fingers and when the guy was being removed he spat in the guys face. After this the crowd turned and bottled him off stage and he stood there and said "Lets be having your ****ing bottles, lets be having them. My band don't deserve this ****"

He finally came back onstage and was bottled again. I was so annoyed with him spitting I wanted to throw something myself. The encore was strange as well beacuse when he left the stage the house lights came on and half the crowd had left when he decided to come back on. He then abused the crowd and said they were going to play 3 songs and proceeded to play one.

£36 to go. Verdict: A waste of money to watch someone who would probably be robbing houses if he wasn't a singer.

NME picking up on the Belfast story now
Ian Brown walks offstage in Ireland
The star is pelted with plastic bottles
Ian Brown walked off during his show in Belfast on Friday (December 9) after fans pelted the stage with plastic cups and bottles.

The show at Ulster Hall had started well with the former Stone Roses frontman paying tribute to the late footballing hero, George Best.

He walked onstage as 'Georgie, They Call Him The Belfast Boy' played, but the atmosphere soon turned.

During 'Dolphins Were Monkeys', Brown wrestled with sound problems and stopped and started the song.

One irate fan then threw a bottle, which then prompted a hail of bottles and plastic cups from the audience and Brown stormed off.

Crew fought to fix the problems and covered up the instruments with towels to save them from damage. Brown came back some time later and continued the show.

An official statement issued to NME.COM from Brown's record label read: "On Friday night in Belfast, a number of people in the audience at the Ian Brown show acted disgracefully by throwing glasses and bottles at the stage following some technical problems which meant the band had to restart a song several times.

"No artist should have to put up with actions like this, and Ian and his band left the stage twice as a result. Despite the actions of a few threatening the fun and safety of many, Ian did continue the show, and played a full set.

"Ian Brown does not believe that these people represent his fans in Northern Ireland."

So what would you have done if you were on stage and some pricks started throwing botlles at you. Just stand there?

I'd have walked off and not bothered coming back on

NME gets the story completely wrong!

Fails to mention Ian Brown having a go at the crowd and spitting in a guys face.

I emailed them on Saturday morning with the story and they have obviously chosen to ignore the facts, instead falling for the poor Ian Brown story.

Yeah I'd have to agree. I was at the gig on Tuesday night and I thought he acted like a fool. If your sound is not ok by the second night well then that says more about the organiser/artist than it does about some random sound guy at whatever venue he's playing at especially considering this is not a once off occurence.

Head butting the sound guy was well out of order, but tbh when I seen him do it I was 100% sure whether he had actually done it. I just turned to my mate and said, "Did you see that?" and when he said he hadn't I just thought I'd imagined it or that it was some stupid stage act.

Did anybody see what he done to the guy that drew a picture for him. I was torn between thinking, (a) Brown you're a twat and (b) thinking that whoever thought it'd be a good idea to draw a picture of Ian Brown and hand it up to him was a little naive.

It was actually a poster that someone had bought at the gig and scribbled all over it, come to think about it, probably an impression of John Squires art, hilarious !!
I was right at the back and saw that, saw the headbutting also and the constant spitting.

He the picked on 1 guy and started calling him a wanker and gesturing.

Seems like a common occurance the sound problems at his gigs, GET IT SORTED !!! Jeeesas !!

No, it was a drawing of Brown that someone had done and they handed it to him. IB looked at it, showed it to the band, showed it to the crowd, then gave it back to the guy telling him not to give up his day job. Kinda funny in a cruel kinda way.

I lost all respect for Ian Brown when I saw the video clip of him beating up that security guard, regardless of whether the bloke deserved it or not it was still a cowardly act on Brown's behalf. Still love his music though.

agree with the original post - the tuesday night show was nothing short of a shambles. I've been to Shane McGowan gigs that had more continuity than that show.

I was at that. Are you sure you were there? He was giving out about the sound and rightly so I suppose. He stopped in the middle of a song if I remember correctly. Was lots of feedback at the start. What sort of crew has he got?
Then at the end he started giving a guy in the crowd loads of abuse (aparently he threw up a bottle of water). He was going to kick the sh1t out of him outside, etc, etc. Then walked off stage. Not sure if he was finished anyway or he left because of that?
