I'd say it'll be fairly high.

I got on ticketmaster and had my tickets being held online but the credit card was denied three times because of an incorrect billing address - my parents moved house in August and apparently NOBODY knows what billing address is on my Dad's credit card!! Argh. I tried every possible one but they denied it and then I ran out of tries. I was on the computer from half seven and have been waiting to buy these for weeks so I'm pretty frustrated right now...

There are big gaps either side of his Dublin date though so I assume there's a big enough chance he'll put on another date. Just hope someone figure's out the billing address by then.

Keep trying... I managed to get 1 ticket online just there.

Yes we know that. That's as far as EVERYONE knows. We're talking about him announcing a second date because of demand.

Bluetonic, why are you buying random seating tickets? Are you a tout?

(I'd never sit at such a big gig anyway.)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,300 ✭✭✭CiaranC

You can only get single tickets now.

Becasue they are the only ones that are available.
    eskimo wrote:

    No.

No business wise tout would be buying tickets today. They would have already have paided their (numerous) 25 GBP Robbie Williams fan club membership and bought groups of seated tickets together, and lots of pitch standing tickets. Then they would have booked rooms in hotels around dublin for that night and they would be now in the process of advertising such 'packages' on their webistes and via ebay.

For someone who isn't a tout you seem to know a HELL of a lot about how they work.

I'm not accusing you of anything by the way.

I also know a lot about how cars work, yet surprisingly I'm not a car.

Understanding the mindset of a tout is not rocket sicence. That why in my opinion the majority of would be sell out gigs should go on sale at 8am on a Sunday morning and any fan club presale should be limited to 6+ months members only.

Edited to say my last paragraph there would all be good and well however for this to take place you would have to be of the opinion that 'the promotors' care about how tickets are sold. They don't. They are the same as your local pub, or local car dealer, or your local Bank. They are there to purely make money.

Beggers and choosers come to mind here mate.

I managed to get 4 for the upper hogan also. Before those 4 i accepted I had refused 8 in the bottom of the canal end. All pretty near the front 5 or 6 rows and near the corner. I gathered I would have all the standing crowd obstructing my views here.

Just before I got the 4 I accepted I was starting to regret passing up on the other ones. TBH though I think there probably will be another concert announced but I'd imagine that that will be even more difficult to get especially as it will prob be a Sat night.

    got 4 standing - woohoo!

so what if he's a tout, its a free world ,i blame the organisers and artists for not stamping out the touts like they did at glastonbury

Was trying online and while in the ticketmaster.ie online queue I got thru on the phone. I picked up 2 standing tickets after the agent tried to convince me they weren't selling any standing - she tried again for them and got standing tickets for me. The agent was helpful. This was at about 8.09 this morning.

    I'm happy anyway.

Got 2 stand tickets by asking for 1 ticket :p

You can't blame the organisers and artists for not stamping out touts. Do you think it's in the interest of organisers and artists to invest time and money when tickets are going to sell out anyway without them having to have the extra spend.

Organisers and artists are in the business of making money not spending it.

touts are in the business of making money too as are weapons manufacturers, doesnt make it right, there are cheap ways of beating touts, names on all tickets and show passport type i.d at gig

obviously not in their interests but if the required legislation is passed they would have no choice.many countries have anti touting laws with severe fines for those caught

I'm confused. Are you now saying the legislators are to blame for not stamping out touting or are you sticking with it that the organisers and the artists to blame?

legislators have to act when the likes of artists/promoters fail to ensure their product gets to the real fans and not whoever can pay the most.

legislators have to act when the likes of artists/promoters fail to ensure their product gets to the real fans and not whoever can pay the most.

So in that respect the legislation should cover the case whereby when a 'real fan' cannot afford an artists/promoters product when they are available at a higher price, the price should be lowerered. Pricing should be based on what you can afford to pay.

Its interesting that in the UK the only law for touting tickets is in the Criminal Justice Act 1994 which covers ONLY football tickets, and was only brought in due to saftey reasons only.

    At the time....
......there is certainly some support within the Conservative party for ticket touts on the ground of free enterprise coupled with a realisation that many corporate hospitality packages inevitably contain an element of ticket inflation.

no ,the "real fan" should have to pay face value obviously,it just a matter of fairness, the legislation could and should be created,im sure few would oppose it.

well drug dealing is illegal and is pretty irrelevant in this discussion unless you are comparing touts to drug dealers which im sure you arent as any comparison would be deeply flawed on many levels, touting isnt illegal in ireland so if you wanna stop it you have to address it from the artists/promoters side or from the legislative side, the supply of tickets can be controlled unlike illegal narcotics.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,588 ✭✭✭Bluetonic

no ,the "real fan" should have to pay face value obviously,it just a matter of fairness, the legislation could and should be created,im sure few would oppose it.

But you still can't cover for the situation where there are more 'real fans' than tickets available.

    Supply and demand. Open market.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,494 ✭✭✭ronbyrne2005

if theres more fans than tickets then first come first served,im not anti market per se but just pro legislation to stop touting.
wouldnt be against dynamic pricing where prices charged by promoter=the price where supply=demand

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,588 ✭✭✭Bluetonic

Biometric tickets are the way to go so.

Once there's an EBAY, there's always touts!
    Fact of Life.

Corporate packages are touting in a different format.
It will be about 600 Euro for ticket, a meal and some drinks.
Now that's a rip off but they will sell them because "business" want
    to impress their clients.

Clearly, I am not a fan and I think he is overrated although I have to admit that he is entertaining. I was surprised when he sold 1,6 million tickets in no time and secured himself an entry in the Guiness book of records and I am still puzzled how he could become so huge in the first place.

Having said that, fair play to Robbie as he proved all his critics wrong, including me, that is.

    ;)

Well there's no point because touting's not illegal, there's no legislation stopping you selling tickets for whatever price you want
