I am living in Gorey Co Wexford, clear view of the sea, I get a good recep. on analogue on all stations ex uk
Recently bought Phillips freeview stb Did auto-tune and it displays that my signals are from Wenvoe, I am sure I am on Preseli How is this ?
Reception on bbc channels always good, but on ch 51 all Itv chs are most of the time unwatchable,,,, the thing is the signal strength is well over half way up, actually better strength than bbc but the signal quality is poor/none
Does anyone know what i am doing wrong, I have a flat type antenna on the chimney. ( Ialso have DAT 45 aerial puchased from Davids tv shop on internet, the MRD is faulty but after almost 3 months of e. mails / phone calls
still havent received replacement....... any suggestions how I can make him give me my money back ?

I have perfect Freeview in Kilmuckridge.
Gorey is a good reception area.

you need an aerial with X s on it. Not the grid job.

point it towards Wexford town and a little bit to the left.

the aerial man in gorey is Redmond on the ballycanew road.
    ask him.

Apparently this aerial is very good...

Not sure if its available in stores in Ireland tho...

If you can get the MRD sorted, then good. If not, I'm not really able to advise on that as it is a consumer issue.

The aerial in Argos is a Log-Periodic which although has a flat gain across the band is not really suitable for fringe areas. For that price you might as well get a Triax Unix100 (or a Unix 52 if you don't want a too large aerial and you think you'd get away with it)

One thing a log-periodic aerial is good for however is that it can deal with man made ignition interference better e.g. sparks.

Also the reason your STB will be displaying Wenvoe rather than Preseli is that the regional multiplexing centre is headed at Wenvoe. Preseli, along with several other Welsh transmitters, are "daughters" of Wenvoe and take their multiplexing information from Wenvoe. On some boxes it would say that the signal originates from Wenvoe if received from Preseli, if it really was being received from Wenvoe, it would say signal received from.

Yea, I reiterate what NC says, a Triax UNIX 52 should do your job (or perhaps a QUAD A made by ABC Aerials).

As pal pointed out, talk to Mylie Redmond.
You'll get his number from Redmond electric in Gorey, he's a brother of one of the owners.

Ideally what you want is a twin group b set up to solve your ITV problem.
The extra gain will do the job and you will actually notice the improvement in your analog aswell.
By twin I mean 2 group B aerials side by side.
Tell mylie this and he will do it-though the last time I talked to him, he mentioned something about a yoke called sky meaning he was putting up no aerials this weather :D

So you will have to impress upon him what you want.
It's going to cost you a couple of hundred to do this and mylie will have the aerials and it will be a top job.
He put up one here that has lasted 20 years.
It might be difficult to get him this side of Xmas though.
That said it will be worth the extra bucks.

I'm in the wrong profession!!!!! :D

Seriously, I live 6 miles from Preseli - and even I sometimes get blocking on ITV! Mind you, I am using a tiny indoor aerial!!!!! The signal quality is sh*te - still, it'll all improve once they up the power in a few years...

On the skywaves email group a few blokes have been talking about that aerial that I mentioned in Argos. So they said its given results just as good as the DAT45. Given its way smaller, I think thats pretty remarkable!
