Recruitment Agency ---> Irish Broadband

    I'm in a purchasing position at the moment in retail, after having been on the sales floor and in the office for a few years. It's time to go give it up nad move onto something else. To that end I visited a recruitment agency which was reccomended to me by a good friend.
    I paid a visit to CPL in Merrion Square, don't know if anyone's familiar with them. Anywhoo to cut a long story short, the chap there was fairly pushing Irish Broadband as a company I should seriously think of working for in the business sales sector if you will. Selling broadband to companies, looking for new business and signing them up. He made the point that there is little to be earned and gained by my staying in retail, that any money or progress to be made in sales is through dealing with business rather than the end user.

    So I guess my question is, does anyone know what Irish Broadband are like to work for? Would it be a wise move to go work for them. Is there potential within the company?

    Any advice would be greatly appreciated. After nearly four years of working in the same place in retail, it's a little scary moving onto something like this.

    Just to make you aware. From my privious dealings with CPL. They have always tried to push Irish Broadband on me. I can probably guess who you dealing with. I bet the first leter of his name is B and the last R. Personally I didint think that the role was a good move for me.N iT may however be a good move for YOU.BUT this is a position CPL are constantly recruiting for and obiously always push first has he discussed any other roles with you at all. I recommend you hold out and try something else.

    From my experience dealing with recruitment agencies (my job forces me to deal with them) I would not believe anything they say. They're snake oil salesmen, nothing more...

    CPL are the best of the bunch though.

    Personally I recommend Headhunt. There Web site is brutal though

    I have to be honest; that job sounds impossible. Don't take it and don't deal with CPL.

    Yes, you would think selling a service like IBB would be impossible, but the stupidity of humans never ceases to amaze!!!!

    Thanks guys, you've been a help alright. Given me something to think about. I knew they'd push one company over another, but I didn't think it'd be pushed so strongly. Perhaps I will hold out for the moment. I'll go home tonight and have a think about it!

    lol@ thats the funniest story I heard in a long time!!! IB is a sham of a company...they do not sell one decent product and whats more THEY KNOW it..but they just keep plugging along with misleading advertising campaigns...I cannot see them being in business much longer.....

    RE recruitment agencies...as the another poster has mentioned do not believe a word they say...I know a few wasters who all flunked college in the first or second year. Now I find out that all of them are working the recruitment industry !!! (a bit of pattern there, I think)

    There are plenty of quality opportunities out there at the moment. Wait a couple of weeks if you have to.
