Under Irish law what's the deal with paying rights for music used on podcasts?

I work as a radio producer, have been asked as a nixer to make some podcasts, rang the PPI but got nowhere can anyone elighten me?

I don't think there's any reason why podcasts would differ from traditional radio as far as music rights go. In fact, Phantom FM recently started a podcast and had a problem with music rights, and so only feature Irish bands that gave permission for the use of their music.

Look at it this way, if you use a song on a podcast and put it on the net you are broadcasting it to the general public and to an audience, so I wouldn't take any chances.
