Sky Deal , Sound Good ?

I had sky on the phone cold calling last night . They were offering free equipment including install and 1/2 price for 3 months . They also said that after 12mnths I could cancel my subscription and keep the equipment . I reckon I could keep the NTL Digital I have at the moment and get them to install the sky upstairs and cancel after a year leaving me with NTL Digital downstairs and all the freeview channels upstairs e.g. BBC , ITV etc... , thus giving Multiroom digital with no monthly subscription and the cost would be 210 (10euro x 3 + 20 x 9) . This sounds like a good plan to me , but I reckon I'm missing something. Is there any catches/downside to this that anyone knows of ?

no catch, after 12 months you can cancel and the equipment is yours

Actually you own the gear when it is delivered. If you try to cancel or stop paying before the year they will persue for money not gear.

    There is no catch.

As well as BBC/ITV there are 70 radio channels and maybe 5 to 20 other Free channels to watch depending on your taste.

Then if the cents get short you can always cancel NTL for a while and still have 20 to 100 channels.
There is even a dedicated Wallace and Grommet "loop" of shorts on one "hidden" channel (can be added via other channels possibly.

I booked my installation for that deal.
Got Sky+ set for €79 after haggling and half price for 3 months.

The only PROBLEM is that their installation service is CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was on the 6th January. It was ment to be installed on the 24th Jauary. There were problems with the van and they couldn't install it. They never made any arrangements to reschedule until I checked my self and the next date was another 3 weeks later.

    Beyond Belief:mad:

Go with a local installer if you can as opposed through Sky directly. They have to be more flexible.

Local installer may not be allowed (or interested) to give the same deal. Bear in mind independents must pay full price for equipment and then claim it back from sky which can take months.
