I'm moving in with friends in Jan, and my next abode for the next 6 to 8 mths have ntl digital. They're not about to switch nor would i force them to. To that end i'm considering cancelling sky, and have a few thoughts and questions.

Would it be best to call sky now and request cessation of service on my moving date, and pay up to then or wait until nearer the time?

I've been a happy sky customer for almost 5 years and besides the odd crash, my trusty panasonic has never let me down, so i'm taking it with me. I'm considering taking my dish too if i'm not too lazy, and i'm tech savvy enough to reinstall it, but havn't found out if i'm allowed put a dish on my new temp house.

    advice and opinions welcome.

Just phone up when your moving, and they send out a signal via sat to your box to cancel the card.
Most houses are allowed to put a dish up, unless its in a listed area where you cant deface the front of it with a minidish, but you should be ok, we are not as strict as the uk on dish placement.

If as you say its your friends house ive heard of people planting a dish in the garden or on a garden wall a a temp setup.

But the main thing is sky are usually quick on canceling your sub but not without a fight where you can get freebies.
    ;)

i moved house recently and rang up to cancel sky. They told me I had to give a month's notice so I still had to pay a month's sub after I moved. make sure to ring a month beforehand!
