It wont be a game that will have any direct bearing on a group, that has already been decided. However it is a vital opportunity for Wenger to blood some of our youth in European games. It has been said that Larsson and Quincy wil see some action. It is my hope that Cygan will be dropped and Lauren and Eboue will be given a chance to show what they can do, especially with big games coming up against Newcastle and Chelsea in the Premiership. I would also like to see Lupoli come on, as this chap always makes an impact when he has come on. Hopefully it will be an entertaining game, and we can carry on our run of consecutive wins in the competition.
does anybody know when the draw for the next legs will be, would be interesting to see if we got a team like Real Madrid. What an explosive game that would be.

I hope Ajax win tonight, hopefully Arsenal will be playing a weakenend side and we can pull off the win.

I can only hope Wenger play alot of youth. Lupoli needs to get more than 30 minutes, hope he gets at least an entire half.

Obviously in the second round it would be much better if the arse were drawn against the mighty Rangers.

    Arsenal
    M Almunia, E Eboue, P Senderos, K Toure, B Lauren, A Hleb, S Larsson, M Flamini, J Reyes, Q Owusu-Abeyie, T Henry

    Subs: M Poom, R Van Persie, F Fabregas, P Cygan, J Djourou, K Gilbert, A Lupoli

So Quincy starts with Lupoli on the bench. I'm guessing maybe a straight swap at half time? Great to see Hleb back.

Interesting line-up. Who partners Flamini in the centre I wonder, Larsson or Hleb?

Larsson, with Hleb on the right

Poor game so far tbh ah well

Nice penalty miss by Henry there at the end. Half time, 0-0.

Reyes taken off with a knee injury. Thank god Hleb's back. Get one winger back, lose another.

He hasn't impressed me as a winger since he's arrived though, neither has Reyes. If Ryan Smith maintains his form at Leicester he could have a decent chance at getting into the first team squad next season.

Housemates are watching the United match; doesn't look like I'm missing much here anyway.

I'd agree with you about Reyes but Hleb has looked very useful so far in the short time he's been at the club and been fit.

Well at least he did not play Cygan this time maybe AW has finally copt it that he keeps drifting in and is no good out there

Youngsters still need a few more games Eboue played ok but overall bit drab and although Ajax had more of the possession they had no finishers

As for us we looked to be going through the motions and thought the likes of Larrson could have done a bit more but time will tell

However we have to improve dramatically for the next round and who knows only AW if we will buy anyone in Jan

Bad news reyes out for the Newcastle game although I reckon he would have been on the bench anyway

Well Laruan has been moved to left back and Eboue has been given a chance to play at right back.
Hopefully this will the case in the future until cole is back.

What you guys think about that peno? it looked like another dive, lucky for the ref that it had no bearing on the group and that henry missed.

Heard on Sky Sports this morning that an Arsenal player is going to miss the Newcastle game this weekend with an injury they picked up. Didn't hear who it was though. Is it Henry or who?

Ye, its Reyes who will miss that match. Aparrently the only reason Cygan didnt start was because he got an injury before the game yesterday. But after last nights evidence I hope Wenger will leave the back four as they were, and put Lehmann back in, even though Almunia didnt play too badly (one moment he nearly carried the ball out of the box).
It was good to see Larsson start, and Hleb back, pity there was no sign of Lupoli. Although Quincy didnt score he was very lively.
