I feel grumpy and preachy today, sorry. Press back if you think you may be upset.

The problem with threads on foriegn "not usually sold in Ireland" cards is that even when a legitimate question is asked about legitimate subscriptions (I Think AB Sat openly sells anywhere in Europe judging by phone numbers etc), the thread is quickly "hi-jacked" by ejits encouraging piracy.

I think a lot of people if they were program makers, authors, successful bands, programmers or actors etc they would have a greater understanding of THEFT.

It is hard to steal engines out of cars and any of us could suffer if it was popular. It is easy to steal software, music and video and folks seem to lack the imagination to see that it is THEFT and someone DOES suffer.

Yes I know that particulary some programs are over priced (Buy the cheaper versions of free ones like open office2) and CDs are MAD at twice the price of DVDs in many cases for even re-releases. But two wrongs don't make a right.
Console Games make DVDs look very good value too!

There is piracy , this forum is correctly modded in that respect, and then there is the gray market Watty ... like them xRTE cards which will not ship over here but which will allow you to watch footie once you have bought the card at the full price .

I'm a bit torn up about those , if you do pay full price to the provider xRTE then you should be allowed to discuss the legitimate use the cards IMO .

The mods would have a lot of sleepless nights though and if they don't want sleepless nights I won't push the boat on the issue because the forum could be flooded by scammers and scumbags if they thought they could get away with it under the pretense of discussing it .

There are two issues here outside of the piracy issue, which I have no problem with discussions being banned. The two, sometimes, conflicting issues are to do with legitimate cards. One is what the providers want, or to be seen to want concerns copyright. Who a provider sells their cards to is their business. However, the EU has made it clear that there can be no legislation preventing the viewing of foreign material (within certain decencey guidelines). Therefore what is legal and what the providers "want" are not always the same. This forum should only be concerned with what is legal. A provider is perfectly entitled to prevent me from subscribing to their package (although most, only what to be seen to do this and obviously want as many subscribers as possible). If I find a way, nevertheless, to do this it is NOT illegal.
Sourcing Free-sat cards in the UK is not illegal, nor is tuning in the frequencies for ITV. Sourcing legitimate ART, Digitalb, Premier etc cards is not illegal.
