    OK,

Little bit of an unusual one for you.

I have a 5 year old Springer Spaniel, smashing fellah, however we live in Clonsilla, so whilst there is a fair bit of shooting, it's mostly semi-automatics !!!

We're moving back down the country after Christmas ... is there any chance my dog will be able to take to being a good gun dog?

P.S He's totally a 'city dog', likes his home comforts.

Firstly is the dog from a hunting breed or line; has it ever even been shot over??? Secondly what type of shooting will you be doing. Finally would you not just buy a well bred pup, train it and have a good dog to breed from for life??

My advice is keep you dog as a pet and get a pup; its late in the hunting season and you could get in a lot of training before next season. Save your dog and yourself the frustration! Not sayin it cant be done but might be more work than its worth!!
