    Hi

Myself and the girlfriend are spending 2 weeks in new zealand in january. We are not sure whether to hire a camper van or stay in motels. Has anyone hired a camper van in New zealand and would they recommend it. What are the campsites like and stuff?

We had a car to drive around NZ and stayed in hostels. You can get double rooms in hostels pretty cheap and some of them are lovely. Make sure you get the BBH guide when you get there and go by the ratings, they are very accurate.

When I was there I saw so many campervans on the road but I think they are quiet expensive. We worked out the car and hostel option to be cheaper.

NZ is a beautiful country by the way.

We have just left NZ and rented for 3 weeks. There are a few companies to choose from a google should throw up the addresses for you: Maui, Britz, EZY Campers or Wicked Campers. Most all provide online quotes to see ow muuch it will cost you. We however used www.spaceships.tv and would 100% reccomend them, the car has DVD player et all inside it. Its also a hell of a lot easier to drive around than a camper. We mainly stayed in camp sites/ camp sites at the back of hostels, or just parked up for the night in picnic sites.
I know for a fact if you are getting the van 1 way from Christchurch to Aukland it works out around 30-50 cheaper a day.

If you want to know anything else feel free to PM I think i signed up to a program that gets me vouchers for people i know for a day or 2's free rental. Cant remember tho.
