Has anyone worked in any of the many call centres in Cork City
RCI, Starwood, Apple, Marriot , Merchants etc
    How was it for you?
The good, the bad and the really bad.

I worked in one of those for a bit. It didn't suit me, selling insurance didn't really appeal to me. However others I know worked on other projects there and enjoyed it, so it's very much a case of which one you're put into I think.

    Semeins?
    Schlumberger?

The latter you will need some kind of IT experience but they are a great company to work for. As a company in itself probably the best ive ever had.
If you dont mind the call centre stuff go for them

Starwood Employee nearly two years. Great place once you get out of the reservations dept.

RCI, Starwood, Apple, Marriot , Merchants - very low pay in some cases. Apple I believe is ok. No real idea about the others except RCI seems to pay barely above the minimum wage and know of people who very unhappy indeed in one of the others.

Siemens - depends what dept you are in and what you're hired to do. Handy if you want to work in town. Good place if you've little IT experience and want to break into it. Long hours and weak benefits package though. Very nice people though.

Schlumberger - worked for them in the past. Again depends what you are hired to do and who your boss is, my own experience was that upward movement was very difficult, but its a good place to get experience and they offer a good benefits package. Great social nights have to say!

worked in Apple and really hated it. pay was good but they were very strict and the atmosphere was awful. getting **** from customers at one end and the powertripping Managers at the other. was really stressful and most peole only lasted a few months. They are currently trying to hire another 150 replacement staff and I'm not suprised. they are using about 5 different agencies in order to hide their identity
