I know there are plenty from Yazoo to Paul Young, Spandau Ballet, Human League, Depeche Mode, Rick Astley ... and some of them are still around or back together again.

It is really hard to decide. If you really, really could only choose one, who would it be?

I think I'd be going for Depeche Mode, they r still class.

The incomparable Talking Heads, who are still my all-time favourite band. Admittedly they were around since the mid-70s, but they had their biggest successes in the early 80s.

Adam and the Ants by far.
An 80s icon from start to finish leading the way forward for video.

Madness, Bad manners were really quite good too.

A-ha are pretty surprising as they never quit and are still producig material it just doesn't sell that much here. THe lead singer still dates every hot chick that goes near hime.

some many legends, hard to choose. Bros were good, wasnt Matt Goss trying to produce another band after Hells Kitchen?
Alice Cooper was fairly good too.

Has to be The Smiths without a doubt.

I would have loved to have seen them live, its unlikely they'd get back together again unfortunatly for us all.

first LP I bought was ABC - The Lexicon Of Love
7" single Joan Jett and The Blackhearts - I Love Rock'n'Roll
12" single Human League - The Sound Of The Crowd

In September 1983 I saw The Smiths on TOTP with This Charming Man and my life changed. I had the privilege of seeing them play The National Stadium in February 1986.

In 1985 The Jesus and Mary Chain released Psychocandy which is greatest album of all time.
Later that year I heard The Fall on John Peel and got This Nation's Saving Grace LP for Christmas. They remain my favourite band ever.

Two great 1980s box sets from Rhino

    Pop

    Gimme indie rock!
