    Hey!
I was just trying to get 2 movies off a cd I burned a while ago and I keep getting a cyclic redundancy error. The first transferred fine but the second got stuck after bout 1/5th of the way. Any ideas on how to fix this? By the way they are both stored as divx files, if that matters.
    Kev

    Clean the disk.

If it still fails, try CDCheck.

that happens to me a lot. It is wth certain films. When you are putting things on dvd and cd it can be fine but then you can't get them back off :/
    i hate that error!

The CRC error is more than likely because of a scratch or chemical/sunlight damage to the disc. Also, it could possibly be dirt which you could just clean up. I generally find that IsoBuster is the best tool for recovering such CD's in windows but it still only increases the chance a certain amount.

The best way to avoid this happening is to buy decent CD's and looking after them. While cheap unbranded discs will burn they'll end up like this a lot more readily.

^ spot on..and, in addition, burning at slower speeds will further help reduce issues.
i went with CDCheck as it's free for personal use (IIRC)

Has happened to me in the past with cheap disc's I bought that I left out in all kinds of weather. Take care of the disc's and it probably won't happen!
