Whenever I open up "my computer" in WinXP service pack 2, the folder freezes, and wont open. But when I hit my documents, everything works perfectly, and from there I can go to any folder I want from the drop down menu in the address bar. Its really confusing me, any ideas? I dont have any usb devices connected, so thats not the problem. I'm confuddled...

Do you have any other removable storage types, or network drives? Sounds like its trying to scan for something it can't see but expects to.

Have you run a virus scan lately?
Try booting your machine in safe mode and run a fully updated virus scan.
This happened to me before because of a virus
